Jonathan Katz was born in 1946, the son of a blogger and a podcaster. In 1978 Katz finally found the courage to get on stage in front of a live audience. Initially it was music that got him there. He fronted a five piece band called "Katz and Jammers."

"On a good night we would make five hundred dollars. We never had a good night" claims Katz. But soon he made the transition to comedy. "I still haven't told the rest of the band and that's just irresponsible."

Years later he was introduced to animation by his friend and collaborator Tom Snyder. They have continued to create things together, the best known, a TV show called Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist. A show about an ineffectual shrink, his stay at home son, his feisty receptionist, and featuring his patients who were comedians. They have been working together ever since.

Somewhere in between Katz and Jammers and animation Katz was collaborating with playwright David Mamet.

"Our friendship predates the whole notion of people having friends. Together we wrote a sitcom, a song, I got him coffee while he wrote a movie called House of Games based on a shared story that evolved over many years. I appeared as an actor in his movies Things Change, Spanish Prisoner, Homicide, and State and Main."

A few years ago Jonathan Katz created a podcast called "Hey We're Back" which is still in production. It has been called "Deceptively boring" by the New York Times.

Jonathan lives in Newton Massachusetts with his wife Suzan and spends an inordinate amount of time living in the past. Before that he was a little boy with a mom and dad and a sister.
